LJT Lawyers is proud to announce that the team of Papineau Lawyers, experts in co-ownership and real estate law, is joining the firm.

They have chosen to join together in order to become a larger force and model example in co-ownership and real estate law in Quebec.

The Papineau Lawyers team, a team of pioneering and leading experts in these fields, is composed of Mtre Yves Papineau, Mtre Serge Abud, Mtre Maxime Laflamme-Leblond, Mtre Karl Michel and Mtre Catherine Santerre.

An emblematic figure within the co-ownership community, Me Yves Papineau was named Advocatus Emeritus by the Barreau du Québec for his contribution to the development in co-ownership law, which he has practised for more than thirty years. He is also an accredited arbitrator and mediator, published author, member of the Chambre nationale des experts en copropriété and administrator of the Regroupement des gestionnaires et copropriétaires du Québec (RGCQ).

Mtre Serge Abud specializes in real estate law as well as divided and undivided co-ownership law. He also acts as an accredited mediator and regularly presides over meetings of co-owners. In addition to his involvement across numerous files in those matters, Mtre Abud is a speaker at the Regroupement des Gestionnaires et Copropriétaires du Québec and a lecturer at the Cégep St-Laurent as part of the co-ownership management program.

Mtre Maxime Laflamme-Leblond works in divided co-ownership law and real estate law, and more particularly in conjunction with civil litigation, leading him to plead at the Common Law courts and, occasionally, at certain administrative tribunals. To more than his involvement as president of assemblies, Mtre Laflamme-Leblond also represents both syndicates of co-ownership and co-owners in multiple divided co-ownership affairs.

As for Mtre Karl Michel, he mainly acts as a representative for syndicates of co-owners and any other person having claims to assert in front such syndicates, helping his clients to validate the legal conformity of decisions and actions taken on a daily basis. He also has a considerable experience in construction defects as well as in files raising issues under the jurisdiction of the Régie du logement. He also contributes to the updating of the Code of divided co-ownership.

Finally, Mtre Catherine Santerre joined the Papineau Lawyers team in 2018. She is a graduate of the École du Barreau and of the Université du Québec à Montréal.

"We are very pleased to welcome Mtre Yves Papineau and his team at the firm. Together, we share the same values of rigour, collaboration and efficiency as well as the same strategic vision. The combination of our expertise will strengthen our service offering in order to meet our clients' needs", quotes Mtre Christian Joly, managing partner of LJT Lawyers.

"Our goal was to join a team specializing in fields of practice that complement our own, particularly in construction law. We wanted to bring our expertise in co-ownership law to enable us to offer a complementary service that meets all the legal needs of co-ownerships and co-owners. We are delighted to have found a partner and a passionate team that will allow us to mark a new step in our growth," added Mtre Yves Papineau, partner of the firm.
